Tenotomy education

Golfer's elbow.

Golfer's elbow causes pain along the inside of the elbow where forearm flexor tendons attach.

What patients notice

Pain may occur with gripping, lifting, golf, throwing, pulling, or wrist flexion. Symptoms can also affect work tasks and daily activities that require hand strength.

How it is treated

Treatment may include rest from aggravating activity, bracing, progressive strengthening, mobility work, and changes to technique, workload, or equipment.

When tenotomy may be discussed

For chronic medial elbow tendinopathy that has not improved with conservative care, ultrasound-guided percutaneous tenotomy may be considered to address degenerative tendon tissue.

When to schedule

Schedule a visit if inside-elbow pain is persistent, affecting grip, or limiting sport, work, or training.
