Tenotomy education

Patellar tendinitis.

Patellar tendinitis, sometimes called jumper's knee, causes pain at the tendon below the kneecap.

What patients notice

Pain may appear with jumping, running, squatting, stairs, or training that involves repeated knee loading. Symptoms can become more persistent when tendon overload continues.

How it is treated

Care often includes reducing aggravating load, progressive tendon strengthening, hip and leg mechanics work, and a structured return to jumping or running.

When tenotomy may be discussed

If patellar tendon pain becomes chronic and imaging suggests degenerative tendon change, percutaneous tenotomy may be considered for selected patients who have not improved with conservative care.

When to schedule

Schedule a visit if knee tendon pain is limiting sport, recurring with training, or not improving with rest and exercise changes.
