Tenotomy education

Plantar fasciitis.

Plantar fasciitis is heel pain related to irritation of the plantar fascia, often worse with first steps after rest.

What patients notice

Heel pain is often sharp in the morning, after sitting, or after long periods of standing or running. Calf tightness, footwear, training changes, and foot mechanics can contribute.

How it is treated

Care often includes calf and plantar fascia stretching, foot and ankle strengthening, taping, night splints, footwear changes, and orthotic support when appropriate.

When tenotomy may be discussed

For chronic plantar fasciitis that persists despite conservative care, Dr. Jones may evaluate whether imaging or ultrasound-guided percutaneous tenotomy is appropriate.

When to schedule

Schedule a visit if heel pain is lingering, limiting standing or activity, or returning despite stretching and footwear changes.
