PRP education

PRP for hip arthritis.

Hip arthritis can cause groin, thigh, buttock, or lateral hip pain, often with stiffness, walking, stairs, and lower-body exercise.

How PRP may help

PRP may be discussed for selected hip arthritis patients as part of a broader plan that may include strength, mobility, activity changes, and other non-operative options.

Evidence note

Hip arthritis PRP evidence is more limited than knee arthritis evidence. A meta-analysis including knee and hip randomized trials found most findings favoring PRP were observed in knee osteoarthritis; hip data were more limited. Dong et al., 2021

When to schedule

Schedule if hip arthritis pain limits activity or you want a non-operative plan before considering surgery.
