PRP education

PRP for jumper's knee.

Jumper's knee, or patellar tendinopathy, causes pain at the tendon below the kneecap, often with jumping, squatting, running, and stairs.

How PRP may help

PRP may be considered for chronic patellar tendon pain when load management, therapy, and progressive strengthening have not been enough.

Evidence note

Patellar tendon PRP evidence is mixed. A 2014 randomized trial compared PRP with dry needling, while a later randomized trial compared leukocyte-rich PRP, leukocyte-poor PRP, and saline. Dragoo et al., 2014; Scott et al., 2019

When to schedule

Schedule if tendon pain keeps returning when training resumes or limits jumping, running, or sport.
