PRP education

PRP for muscle strains.

Muscle strains can occur during sprinting, lifting, cutting, jumping, or sudden acceleration and may require a structured return-to-activity plan.

How PRP may help

PRP may be discussed for selected muscle injuries, especially when recovery is delayed or when imaging shows a focal injury pattern. Rehabilitation remains central to recovery.

Evidence note

Evidence for PRP in muscle injuries is evolving and less definitive than for some other conditions. Reviews note biologic rationale but limited high-quality clinical evidence and variability in protocols. Kunze et al., 2019; Sheth et al., 2014

When to schedule

Schedule if a muscle strain causes bruising, weakness, recurrent symptoms, or uncertainty about returning to sport.
