PRP education

PRP for rotator cuff tendinopathy.

Rotator cuff tendinopathy can cause shoulder pain with reaching, lifting, throwing, overhead activity, and sleeping on the shoulder.

How PRP may help

PRP may be discussed for select chronic rotator cuff tendon problems when rehabilitation and activity modification have not provided enough relief.

Evidence note

Systematic reviews of randomized trials report mixed but promising findings for some rotator cuff conditions, with differences depending on PRP preparation, tendon diagnosis, and comparator treatment. Lin et al., 2020; Hurley et al., 2021

When to schedule

Schedule if shoulder pain is persistent, affecting sleep, or limiting lifting, throwing, swimming, or overhead activity.
