PRP education

PRP for tennis elbow.

Tennis elbow is chronic tendon pain on the outside of the elbow. PRP may be discussed when symptoms persist despite rest, bracing, therapy, and activity changes.

How PRP may help

PRP is injected near the painful tendon to deliver concentrated platelets and growth-factor signaling to an area with limited healing capacity. It is usually paired with a gradual strengthening and return-to-activity plan.

Evidence note

Evidence is mixed but includes randomized research in lateral epicondylitis. A 2-year randomized trial reported ongoing benefit of PRP compared with corticosteroid injection for chronic lateral epicondylitis. Gosens et al., 2011

When to schedule

Schedule if outside-elbow pain affects gripping, lifting, work, tennis, throwing, or daily activity.
