Tenotomy education

Tennis elbow.

Tennis elbow is pain on the outside of the elbow, often from irritation or degeneration of the common extensor tendon.

What patients notice

Pain may worsen with gripping, lifting, typing, racquet sports, throwing, or carrying objects with the palm down. Some patients also notice reduced grip strength or pain that returns every time activity increases.

How it is treated

Care often starts with activity changes, bracing or counterforce strap guidance, physical therapy, progressive strengthening, and addressing equipment or technique factors.

When tenotomy may be discussed

If symptoms remain chronic despite conservative care, Dr. Jones may evaluate whether ultrasound-guided percutaneous tenotomy is appropriate to target damaged tendon tissue and support a renewed healing response.

When to schedule

Schedule a visit if elbow pain has lasted more than a few weeks, grip is affected, or you want to discuss non-operative options for chronic tendon pain.
